Literacy Access Beyond the School Day

Too many DPSCD schools have a room labeled "library" that isn't staffed and isn't actually helping kids become readers. And for too many families, reading support ends the moment the last bell rings.

What I plan to do

Push for every DPSCD school to have a fully staffed, functioning library while  building family literacy access beyond the school day:  extended hours, take-home books, community partnerships

Start with data the district already has, so we know exactly which schools need help first

First 6 months: map every school's current library gap and library staffing gap.

By month 9: Bring a fulling developed library funding plans to the board

By year one: launch family literacy programming in the schools that need it most, expanding district-wide over the next two years

​

What Success Looks Like: Every DPSCD school has a staffed library, and every family that wants literacy support has a real, documented way to get it outside the school day.
